Amy Adams has been engaged to Darren Le Gallo (father of her 2-year-old daughter, Aviana) since 2008. Perhaps she’s waiting for the right dress before taking the plunge? Her Oscar dress, a dove-gray Oscar de la Renta gown with layers of tulle ruffles, should be in contention.

Saldana’s Oscar gown, a couture Alexis Mabille number with gray and black hemline, would be perfect for a sophisticated city wedding.

Natalie Portman’s elegant Dior dress featuring an empire waist and one black shoulder strap (her Vanity Fair post-Oscars bash look) would make for a similarly comfortable and chic wedding outfit.

Different Shades:
The easiest colors to mismatch are neutrals. They tend to look extra chic, and it’s easier to avoid color clashes. If you’re the type of bride with extremely stylish friends, this is the option for you. There are no ground rules because your trendy ‘maids would probably break them anyway. Mix and matching different bridesmaids dresses are a great option if you feel like your girls have a great sense of style. Though you are giving them the freedom to choose what to wear on your wedding, you can always provide some guidance about your wedding theme to keep the look together.

The most important thing to do is to communicate. Let your bridesmaids know what your ultimate vision looks like (make inspiration boards, send them color palettes and fabrics, etc.) and have fun with it!

Goodreads shows I’ve only finished 4 books all year, one of which was a travel guide. (If you suffered from Attention Deficit Book Disorder, you’d rate travel guides too…and Oahu Revealed earned those five stars).

This title will go down as one my top five* favorite Rachel Hauck books. I adored the dual love stories taking place in both the past and the present. Two brides, the same dress, separated by a several decades. There is also an element of fantasy in this romance that I found refreshing.  It reminded me a little of the story The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.  

Listening to the audio version added a whole new dimension to The Wedding Dress.  I’ve always enjoyed Hauck’s southern settings and the voices she gives her characters.  But the narrator of this title, Eleni Pappageorge (who sounds exactly like Ashley Judd), had a delicious southern accent which really brought the story to life. The prom dresses uk version comes with book club discussion questions which can be downloaded from the website if needed.

I don’t know if my Attention Deficit Book Disorder is completely cured.  But now I know where to find the medicine.  Rachel Hauck has another book coming out and I hope they release it in audio!

Preparation Groom on Wedding Day-Preparation of the groom is also worth noting that the wedding went well. Most of the groom confused about what to do when the day comes. Preparation groom somewhat more relaxed than the bride, but still need careful planning to prepare. Here are tips to help you prepare for your wedding day needs.

Waking up early

Let no one scattered, because it would be difficult to find a replacement when the time is urgent.

Preparation of the groom is not so complicated, but still need special planning to prepare. If you are having trouble setting up any wedding needs yourself, you can ask for help bestmen and the people closest to you to prepare. Instead, consult a wedding organizer of your choice on what to be prepared the day of the wedding.

Finally, here is the construction of my skirt! My final inspiration was a mermaid style skirt, which is the look I wanted with the vintage McCalls pattern that I just could get. Finally, I gave up on that waste of time and I pulled out the pieces to Vogue 1183, that I had recently used to make a wool dress. The skirt was about right for the waist and hips: seams, not darts and it fit decently, if I added a bit of room.

So I made a muslin, adding about an inch at the center front and back so that it wasn’t as prom dresses uk tight as the wool dress (duh I am not a 6!). Then I tapered the pieces in at the knee and flared them out into a fan shape at the bottom. Then I added a godet to the center front. As you can see below, since it was cut on the fold, it lacked the flare of the other points. The godet gave it the same shaping, while also eliminating the need for a center seam.

At that point, I had about 2 weeks until the wedding so it was like “Let’s go!”
The skirt is three distinct layers. China silk lining, silk charmeuse underlining with the shiny side in, and then of course my top layer of lace. After some internet snooping, I decided all the layers needed to be distinct to give the best floatyness.

Here is a close-up of the joint. I did a really wonky job on the two lower layers, so for the lace I did french seams on one side and then top-stitched down the left side to be sure there would be no puckers or bumps.

I made french seams on the lace skirt, but did not finish the seams on the underskirts because they are hidden. Lol, I never finish seams, why would my wedding dress be any different?

Somehow I miscalculated on the French seams, though and it ended up being too snug. The lace was tighter than the silk layers beneath. It was really only tight over the widest part of my his, just below where the zipper ends. I would have just left it as is, since time was getting short, but I felt like it was distorting the lace and might tear it. I ended up adding a tiny insert to the center back seam below the zipper, which you can see between the red pins in the picture below. Very hard to see, and no one would even notice.

I was able to use the scallops on the hem, which turned out to be the perfect way to hem the lace. It gave a very nice finish and I am really happy with the final look. The underskirts are both machine hemmed in a shoddy and molly-like way. Aka, no one can see them!

I hemmed it at just the right length where it looked nice with the heels I bought for the ceremony and then still didn’t drag on the ground after I switched to flats. Bam, genius!

Overall, I would say it cost about $300 and I am not even going to guess how long it took if you count all the muslins and fittings. I am super proud of myself and am happy to say “I made my own wedding dress!!!
